What’s Hot

  • To call this ‘a horror movie’ is not justified. This is more of a horror drama. There is an interesting back story to horror. There are at least two intelligent twists in the movie that will straighten you up from your seats.
  • The narrative structure is very engaging, consisting of memories flashes, dreams, hallucinations – All juxtaposed in a seemingly random order making this a borderline mindf**k movie.
  • The building up prior to the horrifying fleeting sequences is great. One would, at the same time, want the sequence to get over fast & the movie to go on!
  • The cinematography is exquisite capturing beautifully, the lakeside home and the places around with lots of long tracking shots, quite unusual for a contemporary horror movie.
  • The art direction is to be appreciated too.The interiors of the house with brightly colored floral wall patterns and a moody ambient lighting does add to the horror effect too.
  • The music score is in contrast to the ones you typically come across in horror flicks and this works out for the best. The score is sparse and the sound effects are equally creepy.

What’s Not

  • The slow unhurried pace of the movie, may not be to the taste of the ‘on your face’ horror fans & to those who are used to movies that are fast paced.
  • The narrative structure makes it a little confusing for the audience to understand the actual back story in the first go. This may put off the audience.
