Amidst a little mayhem& a little magic, Kaatru Veliyidai has its share of moments which aren't stitched as well as we would have liked. Impeccable technical brilliance notwithstanding, the incomplete character sketches make the film as flawed as its lead VC.
The problem with Kavan is not in the horde of social issues it tries to bring to the limelight. The manner in which the film is presented makes the try look pretentious just like the media it portrays. Even Vijay Sethupathi’s presence doesn’t save this one from sinking.
Yaman sets itself up to a very high expectation with all the set pieces and intertwined subplots of action and revenge. With the actors performing at their tempo, the story proceeds and ends logically. However, without the primary emotional reveal to the protagonist, the ending does not provide fulfillment.
With just a couple of characters, Nila manages to keep you engrossed and take you on a journey of love, pain, guilt and loneliness. The technically masterful film literally transports you into their world and makes you invest in the lives of the characters with minimal usage of dialogues. Such an assured debut is rare and Selvamani & Team certainly deserve the plaudits!
'Maanagaram' proves to be that whiff of freshness we crave for amongst odourless contemporaries. Dragged down a notch by overindulgence from the director, it is still a picture perfect show of talent from a brand new crew!

‘Maveeran Kittu’ bears the trademark of Suseenthiran’s style of impactful storytelling which benefits from a historical character based storyline with a rural milieu. Augmented by engaging music, powerful dialogues and able performances the movie is made quite a resolute tale indeed!
Allied has to be labelled as a missed opportunity since the end product, in spite of the admirable efforts of Marion Cotillard and Brad Pitt, does not have the desired impact.
