Isai (Tamil, 2015)
S.J.Suryah’s Isai is a long yet daringly inventive film that deserves a watch for its tryst to be out-of-the-box. Had the unnecessary flab in the love-track been trimmed it would have been celebrated even more.

Aambala is a typical passé commercial family entertainer type of a movie that cares less about the integrity of the story and utilizes or rather blatantly abuses artistic freedom to such levels of absurdity that will make most of us cringe to leave us disappointed and bemused!
With an intriguing title – 'Thottaal Thodarum' is definitely about how misfortunes will follow until you stand up to it. With Cable Shanker at the helm, his experience as a cinema analyst and critic could have made a better movie - but this is nevertheless a good try with an interesting core, a capable lead pair and a sound technical crew and manages to pull off a decent show despite its flaws!
‘Darling’ begins on a funny and mysterious note, but soon embraces the predictable path and loses a lot of venom to wander off to mediocrity. Nevertheless, the humour sprayed all over the movie never lets up and manages to pull itself up to present a decent entertainer!!
After covering the 11th edition of CIFF , we felt that facets like volunteering, visibility & organization needed minor tweaks to give the festival a better facelift and reach. Our hope was indeed translated into reality by the commendable efforts of ICAF and volunteers from DG Vaishnav college. Another plus to this installment of CIFF was Natty, a fictional character in Social media, to engage the present-day audience better.
Why did Anurag Kashyap christen this lovely film Ugly? Probably to stress that solutions to problems lie not so far from us. Is it valid only for the story or also for the darker side of the human emotion? Even though the former is inspired by real events, keen eyes on this movie will make the latter weigh more!
Nizhal Nijamagirathu is a film that stuns you with its making, casting, characterization, dialogues, & performances. It is all the more impressive that it is still talked given the fact that the film does not have a principal Hero or Heroine character.
The story of Alan Turing deserved to be told! No better way than to take us through the struggles a seemingly abnormal person had to go through to show to the world a seemingly abnormal invention made at the most difficult of times & how the world conveniently and ironically threw him out an ‘outcast’.
Scores of events happen every day in our country - A lot of them concerning politics and politicians. While the media coverage is restricted to the event itself, December-1 is an outstanding effort to capture the ground work leading up to one such event and the impact it could have on the unassuming common men! Throw in a sensitive socio-political backdrop to the mix and you get to watch a truly captivating movie!
'The Judge' is that movie with a lot many facets apart from a riveting courtroom drama! With an emotionally powered father-son relationship at the core, some effective performances by the lead actors provide a truly well executed and intriguing depiction of the story for the audience to relish and relate to.
