Meelpaarvai (Tamil, 2016) | Short Film Review

Melpaarvai is one insightful attempt that digs into a broken relationship that refuses to die irrespective of time, marriage or any other factor that could have come into the equation. Capable acting, well written dialogues and delightful music are standout aspects while showing two distinct phases of the relationship side by side, is a refreshing choice of story-telling technique.

Despite the extremely well done visual overlays between the present and past versions of the lead pair, there is ample scope of improvement in the way the camera was handled. There were quite a few jerky movements and distracting focus shifts apart from inconsistent lighting in the indoor sequences. With the focus on just two characters, this short film scores high on both concept and execution!
