The film conveys thoughts on ‘relationship’ that has seen enough years for the individual space of the ones involved blur and obsession to creep in. A third person’s contribution in providing a fresh perspective to sort the unsettled dust forms the major chunk of the short. The idea chosen to provide this perspective is radical, yet pleasant and the casting of Balaji for it seems to have done the trick as he comfortably carries it to coast. The efforts of the lead players Sidharth Varma & Sanju Mohan are worth a mention for the winding (Inarritu/Lubezki inspired?) first shot that lasts for close to a minute and a half! Job well done, cinematographers Vasanth and Kowshik.

On the flip side, the second story dominates and has an intrigue about it which makes us want more of it giving an abrupt feeling as the credits roll. Coffee in a juice cup stuck out and could have been avoided.

Overall, Tikkun Olam is a slick no-nonsense short that conveys what it intends to with a touch of experimentation & presents a sweet little message.
