The aptly named ‘Tanglish’ captures your attention right from the credits where it thanks The Rock, Guy Ritchie & MSV-Ramamurthy. Similarly the in-film animation sequences also attract us towards the film.  There are some wonderful phrases that are spoken in ultra-casual yet effective fashion like how a crying kid in Chennai is asked to lament saying ‘Mummy’ instead of ‘அம்மா’, how “Dude in Tamizh is DA” and so many such instances. The female lead & the English speaking car-owner are very interesting characterizations that you do not come across very often on celluloid. Vibrant imagination from the Dwarakh & his writing department for sure.  Acting-wise the female lead, Deepa Natrajan and of course the protagonist Linga deliver excellent performances. The one expression Linga gives, when his friend approves him proposing his love thru SMS is so good that lingers long after watching the film. Technically too the film is top-notch with the triumvirate of Music-Cinematography-Editing combing to give a lovely product. On the negative side there are a couple of situations towards the latter half of the film that seem forced. However, it still must be said that this is a wonderful idea that helps give the short film a really nice arc.
