What’s Hot
- When a lot of sequels end up as damp squibs, the Transformers series never ceases to amaze one. Go into the movie hall and you are guaranteed some magnificent visuals, dazzling landscapes, breath-taking action sequences – what more does one need to spend in those 165 minutes?
- What distinguishes Age of Extinction from its predecessors is that 3D has been used in abundance. It even has Dinobots (read Dinosaurs) this time around to go with the familiar Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and their sidekicks. The striking slow-motion shots involving Optimus Prime and Bumblebee gyrating mid-air while tossing human characters from hand to hand is indeed a stunning illustration of technology. Also, the whole IMAX movie watching experience has added a lot of grandeur to the movie.
- The kinds of Transformers that you see in every part of this series just keep getting better and better. Michael Bay and his team have done a fantabulous job in keeping abreast with the expectations of the millions of fans around the globe. It is no irony that Michael Bay being a TV commercial whiz ends up presenting to us a billion-dollar commercial extravaganza.
- Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor are the main faces in the movie who end up replacing Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox , and John Turturro from the previous installments. ‘The Shooter’ Wahlberg plays his role of a protective father to precision and never slips under the radar even though it completely is the Autobot show. Do watch out for Stanley Tucci’s Steve Jobs-kind of enterprise and Bingbing Li’s impressive cameo towards the end.
What’s Not
- Despite the fact that the Transformers team has succeeded in presenting us a technical quintessence, the excessive run-time, mockeries and the quips serving as a persistent commotion and the story making no meaningfully striking progression are prominent negatives.
- The Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor trio reminds you of the Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler, Ben Affleck arc from Armageddon – ironically one of Michael Bay’s earlier films.
