What’s Hot
- Alia Bhatt is a complete revelation in this flick where she shows off her prowess as an actress. She literally carries the whole movie in her shoulders with her splendid performance. And yea, she sings too!
- Randeep Hooda provides the perfect foil for Alia by portraying a morose and serious character in contrast to Alia’s chirpy and emotional one.
- The camera work makes us fall in love with the scenic locales of Himalayas and a definite visual treat for all the camera-addicts out there.
- A. R Rahman’s tracks are all cleverly used as a part of the narration with ‘Maahi Ve’, ‘Pathaka Guddi’, ‘Wanna Mash Up’ being the picks. His background score centered mainly on silence provides the necessary mood for the film. ‘Implosive Silence’ – being the one used cleverly at numerous places.
- Imtiaz Ali has set the bar high once again after Rockstar and has churned out a cherishable road journey. There are quite a few standout scenes carried off by great writing and exemplary acting – be it the flashback narration by Alia and the one by Randeep, the climax outburst, the hill climbing episode (Himalayas), etc.
What’s Not
- The movie’s pace dips a little on the second half. Although the pace is salvaged by some extraordinary visuals, the running time could have been five-ten minutes shorter.
- The plotline’s mild similarity to the cult Kamal Hassan classic Guna can be noticed by regional moviegoers.
