A dangerous cartel boss, Gabriel Cortez escapes from the FBI’s clutch and is literally racing away from them in a powerful race car, towards the Mexican border. He has his army of hit men to take away and eliminate all manner of obstacles and many cops lose their lives. However things don’t go as per plan for Cortez, when crossing a little town called Sommerton to reach Mexico, as Sheriff Ray Owens and his motley crew of cops and volunteers put up one hell of a fight and take all their well-laid plans apart.

What’s Hot

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in a full-length role as an action hero, only this time as a really old and nearing-retirement cop. But, a superstar is a superstar and it’s hard not to root for Arnie in spite of his age.
  • Eduardo Noriega plays the cartel boss. The way he zooms around in his racing car adds to the thrills and spills. The sound that his beast of a car makes, is terrific.
  • Among the motley crew, Johnny Knoxville plays the quintessential clown. Forest Whitaker plays the FBI Agent who tries to micromanage the whole operation sitting in his office. The rest of the actors are passe including a couple of good-looking female agents and a fearless young cop.
  • There are plenty of chases and car stunts and they have been done capably by the crew.

What’s Not

  • Arnold is visibly old and jaded and he himself admits it in the movie. The usage of stunt doubles for him is too obvious.

‘The Last Stand’ offers gripping and racy undemanding entertainment over its running time especially for Schwarzenegger fans. Not a bad watch at all.
