What’s Hot
- This is an admirable piece of work by Clint Eastwood, the master-actor-turned-master director! He is one gem of a film maker! The story & screenplay writers and Dennis Lehane, the author of the novel from which this has been adapted deserve their shares of plaudits too.
- Sean Penn is the show-stealer with his brilliant performance; Tim Robbins isn’t far behind in his role of a timid, traumatized character; No surprise that both of them ended up clinching Academy Awards for their roles!
- The cop men Kevin Bacon & Fishburne act adequately in good supporting roles.
- The suspense cover & the twists take this film at quite an intensity aided by a subtle background score – again by master Clint Eastwood!
What’s Not
- The movie’s style – dark, dull & intense – may not find favor with those seeking entertainment alone!
