In what is seemingly the last mission of the IMF that is disbanded, the control of the operatives is transferred to the CIA by the judiciary who see fit the complaints stacked by the CIA over the illicit dealings of the IMF. Elsewhere, a team of well-funded ex-servicemen are tasked with the mission of obliterating anti terror operations, who turn rogue due to the improper state support they receive from the M16. Ethan Hunt is confronted with this team of rogue servicemen who are responsible for terrorist activities across the globe, later knowing that they are scheming for something huge. What does Ethan Hunt do and how do his friends pitch in to deal with their impossible mission is what the movie takes us through.

What’s Hot

  • Talking about the franchise, there have been ups and downs from the time the Mission Impossible series has begun. It has been a street smart example of stunts and action that have stood for ages now. Rogue Nation is no mean effort and stands shoulder to shoulder with the other movies, if not more. The action sequences are a delight to watch and pack a punch in the nitty-gritty moments. Add to them the technicalities of the smart gadgets that are put to use by the IMF.
  • The screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie is another aspect that adds to its charm. It lends the much needed support to an action genre movie and keeps the audience guessing with its pomp.
  • In terms of acting, the main cast of the movie have done a splendid job with Tom Cruise holding fort and noteworthy mentions include Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson. Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg have performed very well in casual dialogues and the action sequences of the film.
  • The editor of the movie Eddie Hamilton deserves due credit for having lent to the suspense factor of the action thriller. His immense contribution can be seen whenever there is a critical moment of the screenplay.

What’s Not

  • Even though the screenplay is well made, there are some predictable moments in the film thanks to its genre. But Christopher McQuarrie has made sure that these lie in the back burner whereas the whole package presents an exciting picture to the audience.
  • Sean Harris has played a neat, quiet, and smart villain toeing the line that Philip Seymour Hoffman etched. But there is not much of importance for him as it does not seem that memorable and challenging for the daring attempts made by the team of IMF.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation has towed the inimitable path laid out by the franchise. But where the previous movies failed, it has scored well to resurrect the franchise by some crisp storytelling and throbbing action.
