What’s Hot

  • The leisurely-paced film, adapted from Stephen Rebello’s non-fiction book ‘Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho’, consists of witty humor and purposeful dialogues.
  • Anthony Hopkins lives, walks and breathes Hitchcock! His antics, during the making of the ‘Shower Scene’, screening of the ‘Shower scene’ in the theatre, showing his anger on swimming pool or gorging on the ice cream are drool-worthy!
  • Helen Mirren playing Hitchcock’s wife comes across as the iron lady with immense character & strong will and she delivers exceptionally well.
  • The strong supporting cast of Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel and Michael Stuhlbarg give polished performances.
  • The way Hitchcock hallucinates about Ed Gein being a part of his journey while making ‘Psycho’ is also tastefully done.
  • The film is technically top notch with excellence shown in Make-up, Costumes, Cinematography and Original score.

What’s Not

  • The multiple supporting characters with scope for ample sub-plots are not put to full use. The character of Hitchcock completely overshadows them. But that may perhaps be the intention of the director.
