If not judged within minutes of the film’s screen time, Thiruttu Payale 2 is an engaging thriller that rides on the back of some solid showing from the main cast and an interesting set of scenarios presented by the director on the social media obsession prevalent today.
Aruvi is a rare gem from Tamizh cinema as it manages to deliver a moving satire within an engaging commercial format and most importantly with an unknown female lead and a debutant director at the helm! And it is no mean feat to get the commercial balance in a unique story knot, the casting, and the technicalities just right as Arun Prabhu and the Production House have done with this film.
The lousy start notwithstanding, 'Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru' showcases the earnestness of the team’s homage to the officers behind the real case with an unflinching & exciting coverage of the case, the physical and political turmoil the officers had to go through & the dangerous adversaries they were after
Powered by focused writing and driven by neat performances on and behind the screen, ‘Aval’ keeps the viewers genuinely frightened for most intended parts and is beyond any contention, an authentic horror film of the highest standards one has seen in recent times!
Impressive performances from relatively nascent actors extracted by a talented director who infuses wit and emotion in right proportions, make ‘Meyaadha Maan’ that romantic comedy we don’t regret watching over formulaic counterparts for its exceptional treatment of the subject!
Vijay truly shoulders the visually splendid ‘Mersal’ to put up an entertaining show for his fans, while an otherwise lackluster effort at writing deprives the film of any credibility and ends up lingering in the mind for the not so great reasons!

Thupparivalan gains the advantage as a technically impressive Mysskin mystery film aided by competent acting from supporting characters, only to be squandered by a laundry list of glaring issues in the characterizations and screenplay that muddles the viewing experience to mediocrity.
Intelligent characterizations and a smart narrative elevate this presentation that involves performances of the highest quality as well. Despite minor pitfalls due to a little too much of inexplicable coincidences, Kurangu Bommai is a viewer’s delight for its sheer ability to keep the audience emotionally involved and engrossed in suspense till the very end!
