“Manchester by the Sea” is a flawlessly executed narrative of complex human emotions in the wake of inevitable situations that life throws at us. Unveiled at an apt and unhurried pace to maximize the impact, it is indeed a treasure to be cherished!
A movie that entertains from start to finish has to have a lot of heart shown from the cast and technical crew - “LaLa Land” is fortunate to enjoy the benefits of just that kind of a pristine effort. A grandiose presentation of songs, dance and visuals serves as the perfect Glossy cover-up for a drifting story!
Hacksaw Ridge is a bold and feisty ride that takes us through the story a pacifist who abhors weapons but still wants to serve, that too on the field. It is a masterpiece that brings together –sharp writing and technical wizardry as a wonderful product on screen, without playing too much to the gallery in spite of the ample scope to do so.
Spin-off stories are doubtful. They either succeed brilliantly or fail horribly. Fantastic beasts and where to find them commandingly takes its place with the former and sits atop comfortably delighting both the potter-heads and the general audience with equal ease.
'Arrival' is an apt title on many levels as it signifies a refreshing treatment given to a sci-fi core story which transforms it into a riveting edge-of-the-seat mystery thriller that empowers the characters rather than overpowering visual effects and reaps the success of commanding acting!
Doctor Strange successfully delivers what it intends to be – a popcorn entertainment. Given the recent influx of films in this genre, Doctor Strange becomes the most complex & visually stunning film as of yet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The visuals are sure to blow one’s mind off & that alone warrants a viewing.
Jason Bourne doesn’t come with a compelling narrative which lessens the overall impact considerably but the no-nonsense main track of the film with its pulsating action blocks (except the climax) save the film and let it tick the 'Action Entertainer' box.
Lens is well-intentioned independent film that is technically & thematically rich while it depicts voyeurism in digital space. It could have been much more hard-hitting had the language been chosen as Tamizh rather than English.
This Jungle book might not be quite flawless conceptually, but the mastery from the technical team is pure enchanting wizardry which has the magic to iron out the flaws and hypnotize the viewers in a spell of audio visual enjoyment like no other!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an incongruity. It’s not about one superhero emulating another, not about The Dark Knight trying to wallop the Man of Steel. It’s a movie at war with itself. And it lithely loses ground. But that doesn’t mean the movie is hard to swallow – Definitely one to watch and relish the more than two hours of superhero awesomeness.
