What’s Hot

  • Melissa McCarthy has done a splendid job as a desk guide and also in the action sequences where she has had to toil. Her expressions come to the fore when she has to come to terms with the passing away of her favorite agent and when she is tested heavily as a field agent. Jason Statham, though appearing for short intervals has lit up the movie with his amazing sense of humour and dialogue delivery.
  • The dialogues of this movie stand testament to the needs of an action comedy film. The entire cast has taken care that the dialogues are crisp and the timing is perfect to get the right tinge of comedy in the scenes.
  • Paul Fieg as the director has done a great job of handling the movie very well. The movie comes through as an entertainer that has the right dose of its genre at the required instances of time which keeps the viewers intrigued.
  • Since we are talking about field assignments in the context of counter-espionage, the action sequences in the movie come as a noteworthy inclusion.

What’s Not

  • If there is one thing that cannot be questioned in an action comedy it would be logic. There are some sequences in the movie where logic takes a hike even though there are moments of brilliance in the screenplay. A sleek example is that of the heroine in a scooter involved in a high speed chase of a BMW. As illogical as it may sound, it contributes to the comedy factor of the movie.
  • There are some crass jokes hurled as physical abuse of the leading character and some more inappropriate advances by helper agents on the leading lady that contribute to the not-so-enjoyable parts of the film, though they are comical in their nature.
