Dharmadurai (Tamil, 2016)
The fact that Seenu has been able to package the travails and experiences of a first-in-family graduate in a tale that is entertaining as well as it is emotional is a success in itself. It could have turned out even better - If only some ‘love’ related clichés had been avoided!
Kutramae Thandanai (Tamil, 2016)
Manikandan plays as comfortably in the thriller turf as he did on the endearing comedy turf with his Kaaka Muttai kids but if the more pertinent subtle layers were socio-economical in nature in his first outing, they are on psyche of characters this time – a ‘great to have’ for any twisty thriller.
Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai (Tamil, 2016)
‘Meednum oru Kaadhal Kadhai’, as the title literally suggest is nothing but another love story which suffers the wrath of unimaginative treatment to the plot, making it a borderline movie that lacks the vitality to provide a poignant experience for the audience.
Joker (Tamil, 2016)
A vital point to be noted with 'Joker' is the resoluteness of the maker & the producer in not bending to the rules and naming the film in Tamizh for claiming tax exemption in Tamil Nadu. That courage shines throughout the film in the plot, dialogues and the performances giving a wonderful output on screen!
Wagah (Tamil, 2016)
The setup is new for a Tamil film but much more could have been done with it than using it to take us through a pretty lame love-at-first-sight story & attempting us to rile over and loath the Pakistan Army – which in itself is depicted as a bunch of inept, unprofessional local thugs.
