What’s Hot

  • It is a once-in-a-lifetime role for Parineeta and she delivers big time. Rather than the male lead, Siddharth Malhotra, the film rests firmly on Meeta’s (Parineeta) shoulders. Her expressions when she is under the influence of pills and in the climax when she laments, are ones to savor. She sure is one of the most promising contemporary actresses in Indian cinema.
  • Siddharth playing the role of Nikhil, complements Parineeta beautifully. The way he handles his fiancĂ©e, Karishma, played by the cute Adah Sharma, his family and the unpredictable Meeta is admirable. The supporting cast headed by Manoj Joshi, Sharat Saxena, Neena Kulkarni and Anil Mange shine in their respective roles delivering serious as well as comic dialogues with aplomb.
  • The cinematography by Sanu John Varughese (of Vishwaroopam fame) is exceptional with the lighting of the magnificent sets from Aditya Kanwar taking the cake. Vishal-Shekhar montage songs are pleasing to the ear and Amar Mangrulkar BGM sets the right mood.
  • Harshavardhan Kulkarni must be commended for coming up with such a refreshing script that has an intelligent but misunderstood female protagonist for a change. The dialogues are also cheeky and enjoyable with Harshavardhan, the director Vinil Matthew, Purva Naresh, and the inimitable Anurag Kashyap.

What’s Not

  • The film’s pace sags due to the two marriage songs especially the one in the second half.

A marvelous entertainer that steps away from one-dimensional rom-coms and features spectacular out-of-the-box performances from the lead pair.
