Gone Girl (English, 2014)
You are not destined to leave this movie with a spring in your step. It might more likely be a bizarre chortle. It has indeed been a while since one sat at a non-horror movie feeling so anxious as the movie unfurled and you cannot stop being nervy even as the closing credits pop up with such ghostly simplicity.
Arjunin Jaihind 2 (Tamil, 2014)
When you look for a sequel to ‘JaiHind’, you know it will brim with moments of patriotism – This movie doesn't disappoint at that and to complement that, has a strong social message at its core. The dud commercial aspects including abject songs and an ordinary comedy track keep pushing the objective of the movie into an abyss until its lost forever!
Nightcrawler (English, 2014)
Imagine what would happen if Robert De Niro’s role as Travis Bickle in the Taxi Driver is reincarnated to suit the current landscape - Nightcrawler almost takes it to a notch beyond that. A real thought-provoking, creepy flick that fusions enough revulsion and strong performances with a clear pot-shot at the unscrupulous mainstream media.
Interstellar (English, 2014)
Interstellar is a movie that starts with the commons - depleting natural resources and food. Thereon, when it proceeds to go in search of exoplanets for saving the human race, a father tries to save the life of his family and travels the 5th dimension in the space time continuum, escaping the pull of even a black hole. A Daring cinematic experiment that is successful!
The Merchant of Death (English, 2014)
The Merchant of Death is a rare indie running on a highly complex plot, which captures the imagination through fantastic sound design, camera work and some remarkable acting in the climax.
