Birdman (or) The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance (English, 2014)
Iñárritu figuratively stirs up a hornet’s nest through a layered film that stumps us with its vision, execution & an authoritative take on things as trivial as a critic’s review to things as deep and existential as the virtues of being ignorant.
Isai (Tamil, 2015)
S.J.Suryah’s Isai is a long yet daringly inventive film that deserves a watch for its tryst to be out-of-the-box. Had the unnecessary flab in the love-track been trimmed it would have been celebrated even more.
Aambala (Tamil, 2015)
Aambala is a typical passé commercial family entertainer type of a movie that cares less about the integrity of the story and utilizes or rather blatantly abuses artistic freedom to such levels of absurdity that will make most of us cringe to leave us disappointed and bemused!
Thottal Thodarum (Tamil, 2015)
With an intriguing title – 'Thottaal Thodarum' is definitely about how misfortunes will follow until you stand up to it. With Cable Shanker at the helm, his experience as a cinema analyst and critic could have made a better movie - but this is nevertheless a good try with an interesting core, a capable lead pair and a sound technical crew and manages to pull off a decent show despite its flaws!
