‘Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai’ has its moments when the inmates & police officers nonchalantly trade law points at each other and the cat-and-mouse game between the Jailer & the Prisoner with the Hangman playing the innocent foil. However, the engagement factor goes for a toss as the film tries to take on too many issues.

If we saw enough dosage of his forward thinking with Vicky Donor, he goes one notch up with that characterizing Piku and Bhaskor with Juhi Chaturvedi. Premonitions and Gambling – Vai Raja Vai makes an attempt to blend these two interesting facets which usually capture our imagination, which is made into a wholesome entertaining package with good music, adept acting and loads of humour! Though it might have ended a bit abruptly, the decent pace throughout the movie is something which will keep you engaged – go for it!
Labelling Court as a ‘Realistic courtroom drama’ that raises pertinent questions on the Judiciary would be unfair to the film, for it touches upon diverse topics that extend beyond the courtroom or the streets or our homes. Once you let the film sink in, you realize it touches our minds and the societal apathy that has crept into it.
Deool is a compounded end product of simple elements like innocence, ignorance, sarcasm, selfishness, politics and superstition that is put through a good process. With the execution taking the story home, it’s a hard to miss and intriguing tale of how we are losing out on our cultural values in the greed of modernization.
