What’s Hot

  • The one big plus in the film is VTV Ganesh whose modulation using his peculiar voice makes every dialogue laughter-worthy. His unique occupation of running a ‘local’ dance school also fits perfectly. His assistant has also done a wonderful job of upping the humour quotient.
  • It is actually disheartening to see Yogi Babu‘s screen time being so limited. He is brilliant in the opening song as well as the subsequent scenes where he offers the regular ‘advice’ to the Hero. His sequences have been imagined, written & performed very well. Karunakaran too scores in his cameo by having one of the most ingeniously imagined flashbacks in recent times.
  • While has acting might be stereotypical, Siddharth Vipin‘s background music plus songs for the film offer significant & much-needed support.

What’s Not

  • The first half an hour before the spirit comes into the film is so lazy that one wonders at the lack of scripts for a capable actress like Aishwarya & a decent actor like Vaibhav. The dialogues are nonsensical & so are the situations before the Heroine falls for a petty thief, but thankfully the ‘love’ scenes are limited. Another prime example of lethargy is the umpteen places where voice doesn’t sync with the visuals.
  • There have quite decent horror comedies in the recent past like Yaamirukka Bayamey & Darling. However, it is surprising that a film like this, having a wafer-thin plot & couple of routine horror set-pieces, can get made with established actors in 2016. The fact that it is able to attract crowds as well proves how low we have stooped to embrace mediocrity.

Verdict

Verdict Stamp

'Hello Naan Pei Pesuren', is a dated, atrocious film running on wafer-thin plot with few routine horror set-pieces! The film is only bearable due to the heavy humour quotient helmed by the inimitable ‘VTV’ Ganesh.
