Remo (Tamil, 2016)
‘Remo’ has a ton of technical expertise working in its favour to give it a posh look on the outside, but underneath all that gloss a lot of repulsive content is being propagated such as demeaning women at the expense of an immoral lead character with malicious intent – now that’s a pretentious cover up of a fiasco at the core!
Rekka (Tamil, 2016)
Confident performances from much of the cast accompanied by peppy background scores is just not enough to make up for the shoddy treatment provided to the subject. A lacklustre screenplay means that the movie fails to grow the much needed wings as it comes crashing down!
Aandavan Kattalai (Tamil, 2016)
Aandavan Kattalai is one of those rare films that will appeal equally to the two categories of audience – the critics and the masses. While it may be for different reasons, it is that fine balance that our filmmakers strive to achieve and Manikandan seems to have mastered it. A Must Watch on all counts!
Kidaari (Tamil, 2016)
'Kidaari' backed by some fine acting and technical masterclass, puts up a valiant struggle to overcome the pitfalls injected by the weak treatment meted out to a potent subject – but ends in futility as its too huge an obstacle to surmount!
Iru Mugan (Tamil, 2016)
When a movie is supposed to star an actor like Vikram in a lead role, it creates a lot of buzz and hype around it as the fans prepare for a display of exemplary acting and finesse. Even though Vikram does his job to perfection, when other elements in the movie don’t gel well, it ends up being a huge let down. Iru Mugan falls into such a category – a movie that tests not just the intelligence of the audience but also their tolerance and endurance levels.
