This is yet another ‘template’ film which combines elements such as a funny jobless hero and his equally funny jobless friend-their petty rivalries blossoming to friendship-the hero’s love life-the supremely overconfident comedian of our times and so on and so forth.

What’s Hot
- Charismatic Shiva, is his usual self, and he continues to do the same kind of roles. It’s again enjoyable but for how long? His costumes and grooming make him look handsome in the movie.
- Santhanam is again in decent form and it’s what you typically expect from the guy. His camaraderie with Shiva and his flirty chemistry with Sandhya provide a lot of fun.
- It’s good to see the cute Sandhya after long and Dhansika is also competent enough. Powerstar imitates all the main stars of our times and this man manages to bring about a few chuckles thanks to his sheer audacity and confidence before the camera.
- Vijay Ebenezer’s songs are passable but they keep popping out at regular intervals. The title song, the mellow gaana number by Karthik and the climax showdown song between Shiva and Santhanam stand out.
What’s Not
- Devadarshini, with an outrageous set of bucked teeth, tries hard but doesn’t succeed often, as the villainous comedienne.
- Nothing new whatsoever and such movies aren’t good for the industry in the long run.
- Our interest levels keep dipping every now and then as Ya Ya doesn’t entertain consistently. The gags are spread across irregularly.
