What’s Hot

  • Vikram Prabhu as Murali Pandian, has shown that he is no longer a newbie in the trade by taking up the role of a cop and essaying it with conviction. His Cop looks are quite professional and the work done on his costume and styling has paid off big time. His comic timing has also gotten a facelift in this movie and not to forget his romance with Monal Gajjar – who has turned quite a few heads with her pretty looks and able acting.
  • Sathyaraj as the good old strict dad and an honest cop, gels well with Vikram to craft up the most intimate father-son relationship in recent times. There is not one moment of hate, anger or disappointment that they share between themselves. It’s a perfect bond with the father trying to fulfil his lost ambitions through his son and the son playing by his father’s rules only to keep him happy – a neat job by director Gaurav in etching their characters.
  • The growing trend of fraudulent debit card transactions with forged cards leading to money getting siphoned out of accounts belonging to the unsuspecting working class, has been presented after tremendous research as a criminal case in the movie. This also serves as a medium to create awareness amongst the general public on the simple things they can do to avoid being victims of that.
  • The Visuals featured in the movie and the transitions between different scenes are innovative, thanks to some intelligent collaboration between the lens man Vijay Ulaganath and the editor K L Praveen. The “Takku Takku…” song is differently canned with a whiff of animated avatars featuring Vikram.
  • A deluge of comedy actors consisting of ‘Ethir Neechal’ Sathish, ‘Erode’ Mahesh, ‘Lollu Sabha’ Manohar and Singam Puli evoke laughter from the audience at quite a few places. The presence of veterans like ‘Kovai’ Sarala to give a boost proceedings and a guest appreance from ace director K S Ravikumar provide adequate relief from the otherwise serious proceedings

What’s Not

  • The placement of two songs featuring Vikram and Monal could have been better planned as they precede or succeed crucial junctures in the first and second halves and dampen the impact the scenes would have otherwise created.
  • The screenplay from Gaurav especially in the first half where the criminal offenses are detailed seems to be in a hurry to expose the identity of the offenders to the audience with total disregard for the element of suspense which would have engaged them better. With the suspense revealed, it is only a matter of time before Vikram apprehends them. Though the second half is paced well, this poor start upfront deprives of any further suspenseful moments.
  • The background score from Imman was a shade over the top, with excessive music for even relatively uneventful and narrow frames showing the criminals forging cards and robbing the ATM. Heists are usually accompanied by nifty beats and rhythms to complement the brisk action on screen, but loud and chorus accompanied vocals greet us in most instances here.

Verdict Stamp

It’s a summit of peaking performances – some over the top, some over ambitious but largely enjoyable and emotionally engaging. A good movie package overall with some cool visuals, peppy songs, racy action, rib-tickling humor and of course heart melting emotions!
