What’s Hot
- For a change the film is entirely dominated by the ladies, Andrea who plays Madhavi & Hansika who plays the ferocious Selvi. Both have been given significant screen time & deliver through their sharp eyes. Additionally the oozing glamour from the 3 ladies, specifically Lakshmi Rai, keep the audience glued on to the screen for more reasons than one.
- While the film revolves around Vinay who plays the handsome Murali and Sundar.C who plays the role of Madhavi’s brother, Ravi, they have gracefully underplayed themselves throwing the limelight on the leading ladies. Kudos to Sundar.C and the entire production/distribution team for not making noises and gracefully accepting the rightfully awarded U/A certificate for this film.
- It is a return to form for Santhanam who is brilliant as the ‘Ketta Paiyan’ Paalsamy with all of his one-liners making the audience delirious. Manobala, Swaminathan & Kovai Sarala also delight the audience with their splendid performances.
- With the whole film centered on the palace, the focus is certainly on Gururaj’s Art department and it has responded efficiently with the interiors and the exteriors of the Palace being fabulous. The camerawork by Senthil and cuts by veteran editor Srikanth are also noteworthy with some nice transitions throughout.
What’s Not
- Lately there has been a considerable number of films where the dubbing for the heroines leave a lot to be desired and here too the lip sync for Hansika is blatantly out of shape. It would have also been better if someone else had dubbed for Andrea & Vinay in spite of them being from Mumbai as per the script.
- Given that the plot is pretty straight-forward, one would have hoped for the making to have some sort of novelty associated with it. It is however sadly not so as the film, in spite of having the right entertainment quotient, looks pretty dated in terms of execution as well as VFX. The songs & the background score disappoint a great deal.
