Revolver Rani (Hindi, 2014)
Kangana sizzles but the film on the whole is a total disappointment without enough firepower to carry on the good work at the start and inevitably peters out to be the bullet that you want to bite.
The Expendables 3 (English, 2014)
This definitely is not a movie made for making it to the Academy Awards. If you know what the franchise is all about, you aren’t in for a rude shock with this perfectly predictable sequel. It is one of those solid-fun-action movies with a lot of dissolute fragments but the worthy ones provide a sense of equilibrium and hold the plot together.
Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam (Tamil, 2014)
In recent times, seldom has this often repeated line of ‘Taking Tamil Cinema to the next level’ been associated with a veteran like Parthiban. When such a personality daringly rolls up his sleeves & reinvents himself to present an engaging tale, what more can we ask for!
Anjaan (Tamil, 2014)
Given all the hype with the fresh hero-heroine pairing and a mouth-watering combination of a bankable commercial star & a proven commercial director, Anjaan disappoints on a Himalayan scale. It is mind-boggling to visualize how the experienced duo of Surya & Lingusamy believed in this script in the first place.
22 Jump Street (English, 2014)
Just sit back and enjoy the jump as long as it lasts. Nothing’s changed even though 21 Jump Street has now moved to 22 Jump Street. The fun & frolic just went a notch higher!!!
