10 Endrathukulla (Tamil, 2015)
10 Endrathukulla is like a race car. It has its fair share of whizzing moments thanks to the joyous outing of the man behind its wheel, Vikram. The problem is, it also has its share of Pit stops, moments of over & under steer and an impactful crash before it stutters its way to the chequered flag
Naanum Rowdydhaan (Tamil, 2015)
When asked about what ‘Naanum Rowdydhaan’ is about, you can quote that long sentence which Vijay Sethupathi breathlessly narrates to Parthiban near the end, but it is definitely something more than that for it travels from comic caper to emotion to action across its runtime with absolute ease. Top notch acting, well-defined character arcs and irresistible music make this a splendid watch. Go for it!
Bridge of Spies (English, 2015)
Bridge of Spies is not so much about the Political side of Spying or of handling trade of prisoners during the Cold War as it is about the need for a relentless character to negotiate things in calm amid all the chaos and pressure & the appreciation of one! The veterans involved are in full form in getting that translated to screen to perfection.
The Walk (English, 2015)
Biopics in general take the dramatic side and end up on most occasions as tear-jerkers. However, the Masterful Robert Zemeckis surprises us all in ‘The Walk’ by basing his film on one act of daredevilry by a wire walker never taking the path of melodrama, but slowly building up to the moment using technology to the hilt and banking on some fabulous writing & acting to bring out the humane side of such an inhuman insane attempt at glory.
Masala Padam (Tamil, 2015)
Masala Padam is the classic case of a wonderful idea gone wrong. In spite of the modern theme, the film looks dated in its approach and execution resulting in an unexciting & flat experience for the audience.
