What’s Hot

  • The film is ambitious and is very interesting on paper though the execution lets it down and prevents it from becoming memorable.
  • Nakul has invested his heart and soul into the movie and he looks the part as a kick-boxer and displays the required intensity in the stunts.
  • Nishanth as Nakul’s best friend plays it well too and he has a substantial role. Chandini is a rare Tamil speaking heroine and she has a sizable role and emotes pretty well.
  • Director Gaurav has a superb physique and plays an interesting villain in the movie while director A.Venkatesh plays the typical Tamil cinema villain with a weird makeover.
  • G.V.Prakash’s BGM score adds to the tension and grip in the proceedings and Velraj’s camera work shines in the night chase scenes and action blocks.
  • There a suspense element behind the existence of Jeeva and Raja and the title of the movie is also justified well.
  • As the heroine is a social activist, we have some preachy portions where the director talks about genetically modified crops, AIDS awareness, Kaveri water issue, Tamil Eelam issue and so on. Actors like Manivannan, Delhi Ganesh, Kasthuri play their parts to perfection in these little segments and add to the emotional core of the movie.

What’s Not

  • Avani Modi as the other heroine and Raja’s other close friend is a big damp squib and she doesn’t know to even give the proper lip-sync to Chinmayi’s enthusiastic dubbing. Her emoting skills are a downer too.
  • The songs suck and they have been positioned pretty badly.
  • The romance portions, though few and far between, are bland and take the focus away from the main plotline.
  • The movie’s length is another blip and the movie could have had more focus to its main line.

Interesting idea which sparkles at places, has a good lead performance from Nakul but let down by its length and insipid screenplay at times.
