What’s Hot

  • Farhan Akhtar as Siddharth Roy completely steals the show with his strong acting skills and emoting capabilities. He connects to the audience effortlessly with this spot-on timing and his rendition of the dialogues make us empathize with him.
  • The casting of supporting actors has been well thought of. The actors fit into the role snugly like a glove to a hand. Be it “Bachelor” Manav, “Perfect Man” Ranveer, “Neighbour” Shekhar or “Headstrong Aunty”; every character has been written well giving individual space and traits.
  • The script brings out the hard-hitting realities that an Indian upper-middle class family undergoes while trying to be themselves in addition to making ends meet. The occasional picture perfect moments are really heart-warming.

What’s Not

  • For an actor who has feathers like ‘Kahani’, ‘Dirty Picture’ and ‘No one killed Jessica’ to her cap, Vidya Balan’s character is very weak and does not have enough screen-space. The effort to project her as a working woman, a loving wife and a perfect mother somehow fall flat despite her desperate efforts.
  • The narration is one-sided as the story revolves around how Sid faces the everyday challenges at the household and how his dream is shattered. There is very minimal focus on the rest of the family/household in building the story.
